My journey began in 2004, when I moved with my family to Florida—1,000 miles away from everything we knew. Our goal was to start fresh and support my oldest daughter, who was serving in the military and deploying frequently, by helping care for our grandson. The lifestyle shift was exciting, but also overwhelming. At the time, I had a 3-year-old at home and was helping my husband run his construction business. Within a year, I was completely burned out. At 41, I hit a wall.
I had never been one to rely on doctors unless absolutely necessary, but I knew something wasn’t right. Determined to find answers, I dove into research and eventually found a holistic practitioner. I changed my diet, began a targeted supplement routine—Ashwagandha, Kava Kava, Rhodiola, Lemon Balm, and Skullcap—and within six months, I began to feel like myself again.
Then in 2007, everything shifted. My mother passed away suddenly from a heart attack at just 60 years old. No one, including her doctors, saw it coming. Her unexpected passing was my wake-up call. I knew then that I had to take my physical and emotional well-being even more seriously. I was grieving, struggling to sleep, and desperate to find balance again.
In 2008, I became a partner in a local health food store in a nearby beach town—an exciting opportunity that aligned perfectly with my background in nutrition and fitness. That chapter helped me heal. I immersed myself in the business, learned everything I could, and deepened my understanding of how the body and mind thrive when supported with proper nutrition and supplementation. I also began working with Dr. Leesa Haire, a naturopathic practitioner and registered pharmacist, who guided me through customized healing protocols using energy testing.
From 2008 to 2011, I built strong relationships with customers, doctors, business owners, vendors, and fellow wellness advocates. After leaving the store, I moved to a 9-acre property in a quiet rural community. We now grow our own produce and herbs and raise chickens for eggs. It's a peaceful, grounding lifestyle.
But during that same time, my oldest daughter—now a disabled veteran—was visibly struggling with a growing addiction to prescription medications prescribed by the VA. For eight years, she cycled in and out of rehab, fighting a battle that was slowly taking her life and tearing our family apart. As her mother, I was desperate to help.
I became an advocate in the addiction space. I wrote to congressmen and attorney generals, spoke with attorneys, doctors, and law enforcement, and joined a nonprofit organization focused on addiction recovery. I researched endlessly—through studies, white papers, and conversations—and in 2017, I found a glimmer of hope. Natural supplements and meditation offered real, tangible support for recovery. While some of these solutions have gone mainstream, they’ve faced resistance. But I believe in their power. These tools exist—and it’s time we use them.
Today, my mission is clear: to educate and empower those seeking alternatives to addictive prescriptions, alcohol, and food. With my background in wellness coaching and nutrition, I’m here to offer real solutions for people ready to step outside the box.
